Zero Cava
79/100
The short takeSimple Spanish fizz that stays upright. Fine bead and bright acid keep the apple-citrus fruit from reading as juice. Not complex — at this price, a clean toast bottle.

In the glass
-
Nose
Green apple first, then lemon and a little citrus zest. Bright and uncomplicated — more orchard fruit than yeast or brioche.
-
Palate
Crisp and lively from the first sip. Fine bubbles, bright acidity, and light orchard fruit carry the middle. The bead and acid give it enough structure that the pour does not collapse into sparkling juice.
-
Finish
Clean, refreshing, and slightly tart. Short, but it leaves the glass feeling finished rather than sugary.
How wine-like is it?
Reads as a simple cava more than as sparkling apple juice. The bead is the argument.

The wine
The useful part of this bottle is not the fruit — green apple and citrus are exactly what the label promises — it is that the glass keeps its shape. Fine bubbles and bright acidity give enough structure that the pour stays on the cava side of sparkling juice. That is a low bar, and plenty of cheaper fizz clear it badly. Rondel clears it cleanly.
It is also not pretending to be complex. Orchard fruit, lemon zest, a lively bead, a slightly tart close. No brioche, no lees, no mid-palate that thickens into something else. What you get is a bright, short Spanish sparkler that finishes refreshing rather than sticky. Served cold in a flute, it does the toast job without apology.
At about eleven dollars, that is enough. You buy this for volume and reliability, not for a tasting-note hunt. The Rosé sibling sits in the same house; this white is the plainer, cleaner pour — less soft red fruit, more citrus snap. For a weeknight toast or a cheap party case, it is one of the easier nonalcoholic Spanish values on the shelf. Score it for what it is: simple, well executed, and easy to finish the bottle.
How to drink it
Well chilled, flute.
Who it’s for
An everyday toast when you want bubbles without spending for complexity.
