Mocha arrives early. Black cherry and dark berry on the nose, cocoa warmth underneath — already more Cabernet than juice. The sip stays smooth and medium-full, gently tannic rather than fierce. Dark berries carry the middle; mocha softens without tipping into sweetness.
The finish is the tell: dark chocolate and tart cherry, dry enough to clear. Grip is gentle, not a hard California Cabernet chew, but there is enough tannin to sit with food. Mouthfeel fills more than most NA reds; the missing alcohol weight still shows as a smoother, less stern frame.
Pour cool, not cold. Too chilled and the chocolate mutes; too warm and the middle softens into mocha sweetness. Likeness is good for the category. Power of a full-strength Napa Cabernet is not here. Dark berry, mocha, and a chocolate–cherry close are — and that is a usable weeknight red.
