In the glass

  1. Nose

White peach, grapefruit, lemon and green apple give a fresh fruit impression, with citrus prominent alongside the white fruit.

  2. Palate

Light-bodied, with bright citrus acidity and pleasant white-fruit character. Freshness makes it easy to drink, but there is limited depth: the wine lacks the concentration and textural interest of a stronger Sauvignon Blanc.

  3. Finish

Clean and straightforward, with grapefruit lingering alongside a faint mineral note. The finish stays simple.

The wine

Freshness gets UBY’s Sauvignon Blanc most of the way there. Bright citrus acidity gives the light-bodied wine an easy, straightforward appeal, and the fruit is pleasant. What holds it back is not an obvious fault, but a lack of concentration and texture. It offers a clean glass without much depth to keep returning to.

White peach, grapefruit, lemon and green apple form the aromatic picture. The combination is familiar and inviting enough, with white fruit alongside the citrus. On the palate, though, those flavors do not develop into a more substantial impression. The acidity is bright, but brightness alone cannot provide the texture or complexity of a stronger Sauvignon Blanc. The wine remains light and fairly simple rather than becoming more interesting as it unfolds.

Grapefruit lingers through a clean finish, joined by a faint mineral note. That ending is consistent with the rest of the glass: straightforward, fresh and uncomplicated. It does not introduce another dimension, but it does leave the pleasant citrus character intact.

This is an easy-drinking choice when freshness matters more than depth. The fruit and acidity work well enough together; the missing concentration and textural interest are what separate a competent bottle from a memorable one.

Research notes

Front label: UBY WINERY · DISTILLERIE FAMILIALE, 0% ZÉRO ALCOOL SAUVIGNON (turtle mark). UBY 0% Blanc / White is Sauvignon from the hillsides of Gascony. Producer French page: 0,0% ABV, 75 cl, then désalcoolisation by évaporation partielle sous vide à basse température. English page lists ingredients and 10 kcal / 100 ml with 2.3 g sugars. Better Rhodes titles UBY Non-Alcoholic Sauvignon Blanc at $13.99 with a <0.5% badge and the same ingredient line. Water and rectified must after dealcoholization are printed on the ingredient list — production type stays dealcoholized (standard must-back). Bottle purchased from Better Rhodes. Producer tasting copy stays off this record.
