Fresh Squeezed IPA

The beer

Hop bitterness still carrying at the end, clean and citric. That is the test, and the can passes it.

Before the close, tangerine and grapefruit, bright and aromatic, the Fresh Squeezed smell, present rather than hinted. The palate is that same fruit leading a clean malt base. Medium body. The hop is in front. Bitterness is actually there, not a polite nod at the idea of an IPA. Nothing thin opens up once the citrus has been swallowed. The fruit and the bitter end are the same beer, which is rarer than the category admits.

The can is fine. A pint glass is fine. Cold, either way. Juice would end when the fruit does. This keeps a bitter line after the grapefruit has left.

Tangerine first, grapefruit right with it, aromatic enough that the beer smells like itself before you drink. Medium, where a lot of these go watery. The malt is a base, not a flavor you would bother to name. You would name the citrus, and then the bitter edge that refuses to leave with it. That refusal is the beer. Grapefruit without the bitter tail would be a soda. The tail is exactly why this still belongs with beer.
