Pinot Noir
89/100
The short takeAn expressive nonalcoholic Pinot Noir with convincing wine character, a dry profile and a persistent finish. Thin texture limits its fullness, but the aromatic expression and lasting flavor make it a strong example of the category.

The wine
The finish is the strongest part of this Pinot Noir. Smoky, savory red fruit lingers after swallowing, giving the wine satisfying length despite its light body. Oceano Zero’s 2024 Spanish Springs Pinot Noir has a distinctly vinous character that carries from aroma through to that close. Its flavor has a lasting presence even though the palate has little weight.
Deep ruby with purple hues, it is expressive on the nose, with cherry, blackberry and plum. The aroma is highly convincing as red wine, and the dry, juicy palate sustains that impression. Flavor remains expressive throughout the sip. The limitation is fullness: the texture is thin, leaving the mouthfeel short of the substance suggested by the aromatic expression.
That gap shapes the overall impression. Aroma and flavor make a strong case for the wine, while the limited palate weight keeps it from feeling complete. The persistent smoky, savory finish is satisfying, but the thin texture remains apparent through the glass. It is a strong nonalcoholic Pinot Noir for its dry profile, expressive aromas and convincing wine character. Greater substance through the palate would make it a more complete whole.

Research notes
Oceano identifies the 2024 Pinot Noir as alcohol-removed wine from Spanish Springs Vineyard on the San Luis Obispo Coast. In correspondence to the editor dated 2026-10-11, founder and CEO Rachel Martin identified Centec DeAlcoTec vacuum distillation paired with the SOLOS Aroma Recovery System (ARS) for the entire 2024 Oceano Zero vintage. Oceano's public vintage announcement also documents SOLOS technology for alcohol removal and aroma recovery. This is the standard Pinot Noir, separate from the Gap's Crown limited edition.
