In the glass

  1. Appearance

    Pale to medium rosé, clear.

  2. Nose

Ripe strawberry and raspberry lead. The fruit smells fresh, a red-fruit rosé rather than a candied one.

  3. Palate

Strawberry, watermelon, and citrus, with the strawberry in front. Acidity is moderate and keeps the fruit fresh. The mid-palate has some roundness, and the body sits between light and medium. That roundness is the only structural gift. It is fruit-forward and easy, and it does not build past that.

  4. Finish

Clean, with a little fruit left and no artificial aftertaste. It does not linger. Once the fruit has been named, the close has nothing further to add.

How wine-like is it?

Recognizably rosé. Red-fruit aroma, moderate acidity, and a clean finish read as wine. It does not turn grapey or artificial.

The wine

Strawberry and raspberry are the first impression, ripe and fresh. The color agrees with them: a pale-to-medium rosé, clear in the glass, with nothing hazy about it.

The palate stays in that fruit. Strawberry leads, watermelon comes with it, and citrus sits underneath. Acidity is moderate, enough to keep the fruit fresh rather than soft, and the mid-palate has a little roundness. The body is light to medium. That roundness is the only structural gift. It tastes like rosé. It does not taste grapey, and it does not taste made.

Then it stops. The finish is clean, a light fruit echo and no odd aftertaste, and it does not stay long enough to become a second idea. Strawberry is the note that remains in the memory, with raspberry beside it on the nose. Watermelon and citrus keep the palate from being one fruit only, and the roundness is only a touch. A rosé can be this fresh and still leave a longer trace. This one names the fruit and is done. The glass is pleasant, and it is over quickly. An 80, for red fruit that is real, and for a wine that does not go any further than that.
