The wine

Lamm-Jung’s Riesling alkoholfrei Rheingau Basis starts as estate Riesling in Eltville, fermented as wine, then dealcoholized. The producer names vacuum distillation for that removal step.

The bottle

Research notes

The front label on the packshot reads Riesling, the Lamm-Jung wordmark, and Entalkoholisiert. It does not print an alcohol percent or a vintage. The estate’s alcohol-free collection page says its dealcoholized wines are made from estate grapes and that the house uses only vacuum distillation for alcohol removal. The Riesling product page repeats vacuum distillation for this cuvée and prints Alkoholgehalt <0.5% Vol., Restzucker 35.0 g/l, Säure 7.4 g/l, vegan, 75 kJ / 18 kcal per 100 ml, and 3.5 g carbohydrate of which 3.5 g sugar. A serving range of 8–10 °C is given there; a later FAQ line also gives 11–13 °C.

Where sources disagree

Sources disagree on the following points.

  • Sugar: The producer nutrition line (3.5 g per 100 ml) matches 35.0 g/l. The US importer, and award copy reprinted on the producer page, print 33 g/L. Both claims are kept.
  • Acidity: Producer specification versus US importer listing. No acidity field is published until one figure is confirmed on a label.
