Chardonnay
84/100
The short takeCream, vanilla, and a toasted finish that lingers give this a clear Chardonnay identity. The close is the strength. The flavor set is simple, more oak and cream than fruit, and the wine stays coherent inside that limit.

In the glass
-
Appearance
Straw-yellow with a light golden hue, clear and bright.
-
Nose
Vanilla leads, with a light toasted-oak character beside it. The aroma is those two cues. It reads as Chardonnay by style, and it does not run toward fruit.
-
Palate
A creamy flavor opens the sip and then gives way. The middle stays rounded and soft, and a toasted character becomes more distinct as the wine moves across the tongue. Fruit does not fill that middle. The cream is the welcome, and the toast is what the palate turns into.
-
Finish
The toasted note lingers after the sip. That persistence is a real close, longer than the simple flavor set would suggest, and it is what the wine leaves behind.
How wine-like is it?
Vanilla, a creamy texture, and toasted oak are familiar Chardonnay cues, and they hold together as a style. The likeness is in that oak-and-cream profile, not in fruit.

The wine
Toast is what stays. After the sip, the toasted note lingers, a persistent close that gives the wine more length than its flavors would earn on their own. That lingering is the strength of the glass. The rest is simpler than the finish suggests.
Cream comes first in the mouth. The flavor is soft and rounded, and that cream gives way to a more distinct toasted character as the sip moves. The middle is texture: polished, creamy, without a second flavor arriving to complicate it. Fruit does not take the palate. The toast does, and it is more pronounced toward the end of the mouthful than at the start.
Vanilla leads the nose, with a light toasted-oak character beside it. The pour is straw-yellow with a light golden hue, clear and bright. Those cues are a familiar Chardonnay style, vanilla and toasted oak with a creamy feel, and they read as oak and texture rather than as fruit. Nothing in the aroma is overtly fruity. The wine is recognizable because those cues agree.
The limit is that simplicity. A creamy mid-palate and a vanilla aroma make a clear, enjoyable Chardonnay identity, and the close outlasts them. There is not much else in the glass. Balance is cream against toast: rounded through the middle, longer at the end, with the finish doing the work the flavor set does not.
Who it’s for
A glass when you want oak and cream rather than a fruit-driven Chardonnay.

Research notes
The supplied front photograph shows a still bottle labeled Artis Chardonnay, vin désalcoolisé, with a black screw cap. It does not print a percentage or name a machine. The still Chardonnay sits on the Artis classics page, which names Spinning Cone Column (SCC) for Le Chardonnay. The Cordier assortment page for this SKU prints 0,00% alcohol and 75 cl, and describes the rotating cone column as low-temperature vacuum distillation, with recovered aroma partly returned along with grape sugar. The sparkling page supplied with the bottle is a different wine: Artis Sparkling White, also Chardonnay, also named as spinning cone. That page is not the citation for this still bottle. SAQ lists this Chardonnay at 0.5% alcohol, 34 g/L sugar, 750 ml, producer Cordier, and UPC 03249381015464.
