Our take on Spiritless
Spiritless has two bottles here. Both start from high-proof neutral grain spirit infused with American oak. Ethanol is removed by reverse distillation. Neither is a finished barrel-aged spirit that was later stripped.
Kentucky 74 scored 85. The published record describes an oak distillate, not conventional bourbon. Production type is not marked verified. Jalisco 55 scored 82 and is verified as dealcoholized. Agave nectar goes in after the ethanol leaves. It is a reposado-style analog, not dealcoholized Mexican tequila. Cooked agave, oak, and vanilla.
Both clear 80, so both are on Best nonalcoholic spirits. Jalisco 55 is also on the Tequila style page, next to Ritual’s botanical alternative. Scores are tasted. How we score.
